When released as a Turbo Cabriolet it was the first of it’s kind in nearly 15 years which created a great deal of excitement with Porsche’s fans. The 996 Turbo comes with four-wheel drive and Porsche Stability Management as standard meaning it was also capable of delivering the most sophisticated, safest Porsche 911 driving experience yet. The 996 turbo had a 3,600 cc engine, with twin turbochargers, and was water cooled, which brought power up to a staggering 420 BHP, making the car capable of 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. Compared with the previous 993 model, the 996 represented a virtual redesign. Cosmetically, it moved Porsche on in many significant yet subtle ways: the lines were smoothed out, the windscreen was raked right back, the cabin was larger and the facia finally looked like it had been styled. Porsche have made the structure 45 per cent stiffer yet lighter than the older model.
