CHARITY
Suffolk Baby Bank
Charity is an important part of our ethos at Pie Performance and the Suffolk Baby Bank Charity is not only a local charity but one which is close to our hearts.
Who are Suffolk Baby Bank?
From their website:
We are a collection of people mainly parents or with experience working with children wanting to bring change in the region. Suffolk Baby Bank was started by a mum whom had been volunteering, fundraising and collecting for other charities and causes in the region, but saw a need for a go to place for families in need or for other organisations and professionals to refer to. A simple way of getting support when they may already be overwhelmed.
Pulling together with like minded people to bring this about and make it a reality.
What do we do?
Our core services include -
Newborn bundles
Clothing parcels
Food parcels
Birthday in a box project
Santa Suffolk project
Homeware and furniture for those leaving temporary accommodation
Homeless outreach support work & soup kitchen
and many other adhoc services as the needs of our families change.
You can find out more about them on their website via this link
Here’s a few words from Chris’ wife Michelle who has set up a justgiving page to raise money to help more families.
"In autumn 2021 I received a bonus from work and a few days before Christmas I decided that I wanted to use that unexpected money to help families who were in a less fortunate situation than we were. I contacted Klaire from the Suffolk Baby Bank who sent me a list of families that were going to go without any gifts for Christmas, and who were asking for things that were everyday purchases to us (shoelaces, wash stuff, new school shirts). It was heartbreaking. Chris and I talked when he got home from work, and that evening he went and bought some more gifts before delivering everything to Klaire.
This year Chris and I wanted to do more so we got in touch with Klaire earlier and we bought gifts for almost 40 children. With the money donated via this page we can help a further 35 more. Any donations not used to help families for this Christmas will be used to start providing early support for families for next Christmas."
Here is the link to donate below, any amount large or small will make a huge difference.

Speed of Sight
Speed of Sight gives blind and disabled drivers the chance to drive racing cars at speed on circuit with a professional instructor sitting next to them pushing them all the way.
The Charity operates all over the country and our very own racing driver Toby Smales has been an instructor for the charity for many years. The cars used are Caterham equivalent’s and Off Road Buggies. with both manual and automatic cars available we can cater for every participant. The Charity also has its own specially adapted hoist so that participant’s that cannot move themselves into the car can be moved with ease.
Mike Newman 7 Time Guiness World Record Holder
Mike Newman is the head of Speed of Sight and is the fastest blind driver in the world. He has seven records to his name on land and sea. Mike has always wanted to be a racing driver from a young age and he has achieved so much since. Working for huge brands such as AUDI and MICHELIN. Mike set up Speed of Sight to give other blind and disabled drivers the same experiences he has had so that everyone can experience the thrill of racing.
PIE and Speed of Sight
Our aim as a company is to support Speed of Sight not only financially but also offer more driving experiences in our Porsches. We will be having driving events in our Racing car for the blind and disabled this year and cannot wait to give SOS participants the thrill of Porsche!
At our Race Car Launch we managed to raise £900 for Speed of Sight which we presented to the charity in the form of a cheque at the first round of our championship at Oulton Park. We will continue to fund raise throughout the year for this incredible charity and with your help we can take Speed of Sight to new heights.
The Future
We want Speed of Sight to grow and reach people up and down the country so that more people can participate in driving experiences. If your company feels it wants to take part in something amazing we would love you to contact us.
Mike Newman is available for speeches and events so either contact us or Speed of Sight for more information. Please see below Speed of Sights website information and donation page. There is also a link for their youtube page which is full of videos of our track days and testimonials of participants.
